Taking Stock

Having the show has really made me think about where my work should go next- a bit annoying really, with less than a fortnight till the assessment for my Uni module! Looking at my work, I can see an increasingly Sci-Fi influence. This is quite surprising given that I have never really been interested in Sci-Fi and I don't think I'd ever watched a Sci-Fi film until I came up with this idea for developing my work!

The piece below was the one that really got me thinking about the world I am depicting in my work.
Photocollage and acrylic on copper

There's also been a lot of theory that's fed into my ideas lately. Imogen Rasz's lecture a few weeks ago about the way Modernists considered the home as needing to be separated from the domestic inspired me greatly.
Some feedback and suggestions for interesting Sci-Fi stuff would be really appreciated!!

Debut 03/11 Show views

A couple of other shots of the exhibition in general- featuring the work of Danielle Stubbs, Jennifer Andrews and Lottie Webber. Feel free to pop in if you're in the area- the show is open 10-4 until Friday 11th!

Debut 03/11

A view of the show at the Glass Box, Coventry.

We had a very stressful day on Sunday hanging the exhibition as we only had 4 hours available to do it. After some last minute finishing on Monday morning, we had the opening night last night (Monday night). The opening was a great success- lots of people came (including some people not invited and not necessarily that welcome but they added...character?!) and there was lots of positive feedback on the work! Now all I need to do is write the report...!

Exhibition Update!

Hi all!

Just thought I'd make a quick post to tell you all about the developments on my exhibition! We've now bought the wine and the (plastic- very classy!) glasses for the opening night and the accompanying booklet is almost complete. I'm saving posts of my work until after the show is up now- rest assured I'll include some show views too- so that I don't show all my work before it goes up in the Glass Box!

I had a group crit. today with two tutors and some fellow students and got some really good feedback. I think my work is becoming more Sci-fi inspired, so I mentioned this to the group and they were very positive. They were also impressed with the metal pieces- my confidence with this material has increased a lot in the past few months. They suggested working larger, which I will certainly consider, but cost is definitely an issue!!

Hope to see you at the opening night! It's on Monday 7th between 7 and 10pm at the Glass Box in Coventry. The show runs 10-4 every day until the Friday (closed Saturday).
